Junior SEED Program in Bioenvironmental Research
SEED is a program of
scientific research for Xavier undergraduates based in collaborative research
experiences in the environmental sciences. The goals of the ten-week SEED
research program are to increase minority awareness of and enrollment in
graduate programs in the environmental sciences by: providing Xavier
undergraduate students with quality field and bench research experiences in
environmental research laboratories of Xavier and/or Tulane Universities under
the guidance of an established researcher affiliated with the CBR.
providing students with a broad view and understanding of the roles of a
research scientist through career exploration workshops encouraging
students to pursue graduate study in the environmental sciences by acquainting
them with the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) and Institute for Earth
and Ecosystem Sciences (IEES) graduate programs of Tulane University and by
equipping them with the necessary skills to successfully negotiate the
application process.
