National Center for the Urban Community
The NCUC
spearheads dozens of programs for New Orleans residents, particularly those in
public housing, such as employment services, vocational training, substance
abuse services, and assset building initiatives. Through the NCUC, more than
one thousand students from Tulane and Xavier volunteer in local schools as
tutors, mentors and testing facilitators.

One of only 14 such HHS-designated
centers in the U.S., the Center's mission is to make health services work
better for women; expand research and awareness of women's health issues; and
increase women's involvement in their health and health care.
