Louisiana
Alliance for Minority Participation at Tulane University
(LAMP)
The LAMP program supports
State and National goals of increased minority participation in science,
engineering and math by providing a high-quality 10-week summer program for
qualified undergraduate students. Under the mentorship and guidance of faculty
members, participants conduct research both in the lab and in the field as part
of ongoing research programs. Students are trained in research techniques that
will be used later in graduate school and in professional life. Effective
January 1, 2001, the LS-LAMP Program entered a second five-year phase.
Statewide goals for Phase II are to produce 1,470 minority SMET graduates per
year by 2005 and to enroll at least 40% of these graduates into SMET graduate
programs by 2003.
